Creative development

Glandin’s parents, A. Glandin and I. Salganik, can be considered his first teachers. Talented disciple has learned his lesson yet did not give in to the appealing family tradition. He managed to establish his own unique world of artistic image.

Art styles and techniques

Contemplation and lyricism are characteristic of his poetic style. This is particularly evident in his artwork of “Folk toy” series, executed in uncommon and fragile pastels.
In his still life series, Glandin uses clay toys out of his own artist’s studio. He tends to make up his own intricate and elaborate art forms, stylizing color and silhouettes in folk art. Life of objects, hidden from common view, seem to pull back the curtain in artist’s careful eyes.
No matter real or not, all objects in Leonid Glandin’s still life seem to turn animate, acquire character and become chamber theatre performers.
It is often for painter’s objects to repeat themselves and migrate from one painting to another.

In Glandin’s diverse creative world there is a place for abstract motives on the brick of figurative and abstract art. Forms, immersed in an irrational nominal space, are similar in its decorativeness to murals.
In their mix of colors and linear rhythms, in the emotional sentiment that they emit, fleeting states of the artist’s soul are reflected — “self-portrait” symbols of experience.
